Generation #300 for our House Yeast

A couple of years ago we crossed a major milestone for our house yeast, and this year we are crossing yet another: our house yeast is on its 300th generation!!! To celebrate this most joyous occasion, we've got some "house yeast forever stickers" and t-shirts dropping for our #SELECT 2026 event this week!

"Very cool but what does that mean and why should I care?"

Great question: The TLDR is that we have been using the same yeast since 2019. Our house yeast started out its life, back at humble little generation #1, in 2019. It was a home brew pouch of Foggy London from @EscarpmentLabs in Guelph. For those unaware, we were still brewing on a 1BBL (100ish Litre) system at the time, and yes we did in fact step up the yeast in order to bring it over to our new 15bbl brewery in 2020.

Our yeast has lived, fermented and distinguished itself in our beer ever since. (On average most yeast will be used around 10 generations or less and then discarded).

We seriously love our yeast like a child at this point and it has become an indispensable part of our production process and our "house" flavour character. There's nothing quite like it out there and we're proud to call it our own.

We're thrilled to be able to share its 300th generation of life with you in our beer this week and also memorialize it on stickers and T-Shirts! They will be available online May 29th at 6pm and in person May 30th at noon!
